Torres to frustrate United
Manchester United's hopes of prising Fernando Torres away from Atletico Madrid have been hit by the news that the highly-rated Spanish striker is not looking to leave his boyhood club in the summer.United, Liverpool, Chelsea and a host of Europe's leading clubs have continually been linked with moves for the Spain international.
But the Atletico captain claims he wants to play in the Champions League with his hometown club and is not looking to leave Spain at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old has ended the last four seasons as Atletico's leading scorer and became the youngest player to captain the side when he was handed the armband aged 19.
"I don't think about leaving," he told Spanish daily AS.
"There have been seasons in which things haven't gone well and you can't wait for the close-season to arrive so you can forget everything and hope that it's better when you come back.
"The important thing is to be where you're happy and to win titles there. I'm convinced I'm going to be able to win trophies here.
"I don't think about leaving to win titles or play in Europe. I want to gain titles with Atletico, because it's the team I love."
